Bio
Dr. Kaishauna Guidry, MD, HMDC is a California-based mobile concierge physician and healthcare advocate specializing in hospice and palliative medicine. Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, she attended Susan Miller Dorsey High School before earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in Education Studies from University of California, Los Angeles in 1997. A proud Bruin, Dr. Guidry initially served her community as an elementary school teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District before dedicating many years to raising her family and serving through church, youth sports, and community organizations.
As a non-traditional medical student, Dr. Guidry returned to academia after 14 years as a stay-at-home mother. She completed her premedical studies at Long Beach City College and Cerritos College, where she held numerous leadership roles, including President of the PreMed Club and member of the Dean’s Advisory Board. She later matriculated to Texas A&M College of Medicine, where she served underserved patients through the student-run “Health for All” clinic. She completed her Internal Medicine residency training at Loma Linda University Medical Center, where her passion for palliative medicine and end-of-life care was solidified.
Today, Dr. Guidry serves patients and families through her private mobile concierge practice, Mourning Dove Medical, providing compassionate, patient-centered care in the comfort of home. She is also an author, educator, and podcast host dedicated to helping families navigate the complexities of the U.S. healthcare system. Her podcast, “Dr. G at the Heart of Healthcare,” empowers listeners with practical healthcare knowledge and advocacy tools.
Dr. Guidry is the author of Dr. G’s H.O.S.P.I.C.E. Pocket Guide: The 7 Things Hospice Physicians Need to Know to be Ready for Work and The Real Deal About Hospice: Short Stories Highlighting the Advantages of Hospice Care for Patients and Families, both written to educate healthcare professionals and the public about the value of hospice and palliative care.
A passionate advocate for healthcare equity and quality-of-life-focused care, Dr. Guidry has served on the executive boards of organizations including FCI Caring, IDEAL for Healthcare, and Association of Black Women Physicians. Outside of medicine, she prioritizes family life with her husband of 29 years, Javelin Guidry, their three children, granddaughter, and rescued Shih-Tzu, Bella. Her personal interests include beach visits, fine dining, elite self-care, and cheering on the Los Angeles Rams.
